SciFi and Fantasy Art: Mother of Stars

I had a vague impression of a deity/archetype at night which came from reading "The Merchant and the Genius[sic]", the first tale -- in which others are nested -- of the Arabian Nights (read online at http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext94/arabn11.txt). I wanted to approach the telling of tales more slantwise, though, probably because of the way Scheherazade was nesting tales within tales. That slantwise aspect showed up in the way she is of the sky -- is the sky -- is her self separate from the sky -- all concurrently.

Pleased with some aspects (no pun) of how this came out, not so much with others. It's hard to convey that multiple layers of being.

Original is on 4-inch x 4-inch Arches... coldpress I think, but on the less-toothed side (that was the way it was glued; didn't realize this because I've still so much learn about papers). Jackson and Winsor&Newton watercolors. Still so incredibly much to learn and practice.

Wow, took me a second look to see what it is, but I think this is actually pretty amazing. Great colours too!

:-) Kir talmage-barnes replies: "kjt replies (belatedly) > Thank you. That moment you describe is something I was trying to make as part of this. Wow. It's great to know I managed it. I want to do this idea again -- or some variation -- because already I've gotten a little better at the mechanics of these paints, and I think ... I hope ... I can do it better next time. Thank you for the feedback!"

it looks very simple and blurred, but beautiful and whimsical. its a wonderful concept and oh so very dreamy!

:-) Kir talmage-barnes replies: "Thanks! I’m pleased with the sky and the figure and the veil. The stars are too blobby (comes of working so small) and I have ideas about how I should’ve done the landscape now that I’ve learned more from Linda Kemp’s book "Watercolor Painting Outside the Lines""
